Supersport United vs Golden Arrows Match Suspended
The match between Matsatsantsa A Pitori and Abafana Besthende (Supersport United & Lamontville Golden Arrows) has been suspended due to loadshedding.
The game began in an intense manner after the newly acquired Supersport United striker Christian Saile netted a stunning goal in the 4th minute. In the 23rd minute, the game was stopped because the lights went out, and the referee determined there wasn’t sufficient natural light to continue, leading the teams to take a well-deserved water break.
Following nearly 15 minutes, the referee restarted the game after a detailed discussion with the match commissioner and both coaches. Supersport United were caught off guard just 2 minutes after the restart and Arrows scored to make it 1-1.
The match was called off after just 45 minutes of play since the players did not come back for the second half, with the referee entering the field to declare the match abandoned.
This power outage overshadowed SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt’s milestone as he marked his 1000th match in the PSL.
For Golden Arrows, it marked their second consecutive suspended match, as their encounter with Orlando Pirates was halted on Wednesday, 19 February 2025, at Mpumalanga Stadium due to pitch waterlogged.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will announce the new dates for the postponed matches in due time.
