DSTV eKasi Champs of Champs Tournament Set to Light Up Pretoria Townships from 17 July 2025

Pretoria’s football-loving communities are in for an electrifying spectacle as the highly anticipated Champs of Champs Tournament returns from 17–27 July 2025, with matches scheduled across Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa.

The 2025 edition will feature eight teams from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Limpopo competing for a grand prize of R250,000.00. The round-robin matches will be held in Soshanguve, while the semi-finals and final are set to take place in Mabopane during the tournament’s final weekend.

This exciting township football tournament is more than just a series of games; it’s a vibrant celebration of grassroots talent, community pride, and the unbreakable township football spirit. Over the years, Champs of Champs has gained a reputation as a launchpad for some of South Africa’s most promising players.

The 2025 edition will kick off in Soshanguve Block VV Ground 4, with the second leg heading to the fields of Ga-Rankuwa. These locations are known for hosting some of the most passionate football fans and showcasing raw, authentic talent from the streets.

The tournament will showcase an exciting mix of teams from various parts of the country, including three clubs from Tembisa: Skepe Nketole FC, Isithembiso FC, and Molototsi United. Other participating teams include Jukulyn FC from Tshwane, Mudagasi FC from Soweto, COVID-19 FC from the Vaal, Masokolaar FC from Limpopo, and Ladysmith Juventus FC from KwaZulu-Natal. All teams earned their spots by winning regional kasi playoff tournaments held in areas such as the East Rand, Hammanskraal, Soweto, and the Vaal.

Expect fast-paced football, creative dribbles, and flair that reflects the soul of township life. This is where legends are made and dreams begin.

The Champs of Champs tournament isn’t only about what happens on the pitch. The atmosphere is always festive; local DJs, food vendors, music, and a carnival vibe make it an unforgettable community experience.
