
Relebohile Mofokeng Hosts First Annual Soccer Tournament in Sharpeville
Sharpeville, Vaal – 30 June 2025: Rising Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng continued his inspiring work off the pitch by successfully hosting his First Annual Soccer Tournament this past weekend. The tournament took place on Saturday, 28 June and Sunday, 29 June 2025 at James Ground, Phelindaba, Sharpeville, drawing football lovers, legends, and the local community together for two unforgettable days of football action and community spirit.
Among the notable attendees was former Orlando Pirates winger Thabo Rakhale, who is currently plying his trade with Township Rollers FC in Botswana. The tournament also attracted Pirates legends and Zodwa Khoza Foundation ambassadors, including Bennett Chenene, Solomon Mathe, and Moses Moloi, whose presence added an extra layer of excitement and inspiration for the young players participating.
Mofokeng’s proud parents were also present at the event, beaming with pride as they witnessed their son’s commitment to uplifting his community in action.

Speaking at the tournament, Mofokeng shared his excitement and pride, saying:
“I am very happy and I am proud of myself. I think I’m doing great for my community. So, I will keep doing good for my community.”
When asked about the motivation behind starting the Relebohile Mofokeng Foundation and hosting such initiatives, he explained:
“I started it to create opportunities and to try and lift up the possibilities of us making it to the professional ranks. And also to attract more scouts.”
Building on a Successful Foundation Launch
The soccer tournament follows hot on the heels of the launch weekend of the Relebohile Mofokeng Foundation, held on Saturday, 14 June, which was a resounding success and demonstrated Mofokeng’s dedication to his hometown and the wider Vaal community.
The action-packed day featured a vibrant Family Fun Day, coaching clinics, and a glamorous gala dinner, drawing support from respected brands like aQuellé, Blue Ribbon, and Super C Sweets. Families enjoyed activities such as jumping castles, play zones, food stalls, merchandise sales, and a bustling market exhibition at DDK River Lodge in Vanderbijlpark.
In collaboration with FARPost, Lucky Star, and FUTpro, the foundation hosted a Coaching Seminar and Clinics at Tsoaranang Primary School in Sharpeville, offering young footballers invaluable skills and knowledge.
The foundation’s launch and tournament align with Mofokeng’s vision of nurturing future leaders, promoting healthy lifestyles, and building a brighter, more inclusive future for the Vaal region.
The foundation’s Fundraising Gala Dinner, held at Riviera Hotel in Vereeniging, wrapped up the launch with elegance. Mofokeng was supported by his Orlando Pirates teammate Thabiso Sesane, Kaizer Chiefs rising star Mfundo Vilakazi, and the legendary Doctor Khumalo, further proving his growing influence in South African football both on and off the field.
As his football career continues to soar, Mofokeng’s passion for giving back to his community remains unwavering, making him a true role model for aspiring young footballers in the Vaal and beyond.
