SEKHUKHUNE UNITED SEAL LANDMARK KELME DEAL AND UNVEIL NEW TRAINING FACILITY PLANS
Sekhukhune United Football Club have made two massive announcements ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season; a long-term technical sponsorship deal and major infrastructural development, signalling their growing ambition on and off the pitch.
On Monday, the club confirmed the signing of a three-year partnership with globally recognised Spanish sportswear giant Kelme, officially naming them as the club’s Official Technical Sponsor until the end of the 2027/2028 season. The agreement was proudly announced by Chairman Simon Malatji at a media event attended by Kelme’s chairman Ke Yongxiang and a delegation from China.
In addition to the sponsorship deal, Malatji revealed that Sekhukhune United have acquired eight hectares of land in Midrand, which will house new training facilities and a football academy. The site includes large existing structures that are currently undergoing renovation. The club’s own construction company is spearheading the upgrades, with costs estimated to reach around R30 million; part of a broader vision to compete with the elite of South African football.
“We have been in the last grade within the classification. And in that regard, we are utilising that one to reduce costs and renovate the building,” said Malatji. “This will help put us on par with the likes of Chiefs in terms of infrastructure.”

BABINA NOKO UNVEIL NEW KITS
As part of the Kelme partnership, the club launched their striking new home, away, and third kits ahead of their upcoming MTN8 quarter-final clash. The home kit remains rooted in tradition with its bold red, now enhanced with porcupine quill motifs; a nod to Babina Noko’s resilient identity. The away kit features a daring green look, while the third kit boasts a sharp blue design that will be worn on their CAF Confederation Cup journey.
Vice-captain Daniel Cardoso, speaking to Ngcobo2010 Sharp Eye, welcomed the development with enthusiasm.

“We haven’t had a proper sponsor for quite some time. We’ve worn Kappa and then Macron, and now we are with Kelme. We played in their gear last season, and I believe securing a full sponsor for this season and the next three years is a positive development for us. As you can see, the materials and quality are exceptional,” Cardoso said.
Club captain Linda Mntambo added that the deal was a much-needed boost.
“It’s good to see where the team is headed. I think credit should also go to the players, coaches, and management. Very few teams in our league are sponsored like Pirates, Chiefs, and Sundowns,” Mntambo told Ngcobo2010 Sharp Eye. “Having partners like this helps ease the financial burden and gives the club a better chance to attract more sponsors.”
Mntambo credited the club’s consistency; finishing fourth in back-to-back seasons; as a reflection of the team’s collective hard work and growing appeal.
KELME’S GLOBAL FOOTPRINT MEETS LOCAL AMBITION
Kelme, known for its high-performance sportswear, expressed pride in partnering with Sekhukhune United, highlighting the club’s rapid rise and regional significance.
“We are excited to join forces with Sekhukhune United, a club whose determination and growth mirror our own values. Together, we aim to bring supporters closer to their team with designs that combine innovation, comfort, and local pride,” a Kelme spokesperson said.
Chairman Malatji echoed those sentiments:
“Partnering with Kelme is more than a sponsorship; it’s a statement of intent. This partnership embodies our vision to grow Sekhukhune United into a force that represents not only our supporters but the spirit of our region and the ambitions of South African football.”
The Sekhukhune United x Kelme range is now available in Official Club Stores and Online, allowing fans to proudly wear their colours as the team prepares for its most exciting and ambitious season yet.
