The DSTV Diski Challenge Is Back!
The 10th season of the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) is back, marking ten years of developing potential soccer talents
The 10th season of the much-awaited DDC has returned, ready to provide exciting football action and uphold its tradition of nurturing emerging talent. This competition, a key part of South African football development for ten years, will once more highlight the top young players striving to secure spots in Premier Soccer League clubs.
Entering its second decade, the Diski Challenge remains dedicated to offering a platform for young footballers to demonstrate their talents and gain valuable experience as a pathway to professional football. This commitment to empowering lives has been central to MultiChoice’s endeavors to promote the growth of young talent throughout South Africa. The tournament has effectively facilitated the progression of numerous talented academy graduates such as Grant Kekana, Percy Tau, Relebohile Mofokeng, Thapelo Maseko, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Devin Titus, Jaedin Rhodes, and Mfundo Vilakazi, along with over 340 others, who have proceeded to represent clubs in the Premiership, the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and various national teams, solidifying its reputation as a key nursery for future soccer stars.

Dr. Irvin Khoza, the Chairman of the PSL, shared his thoughts on the influence of the DDC as a part of the collective dedication to football development. “Celebrating 10 years of the Diski Challenge is more than just a milestone; it’s a significant achievement that highlights the deep and fruitful partnership we’ve built with MultiChoice over the years. The Diski Challenge has grown beyond a mere tournament—it has become a conveyor belt for nurturing and developing young talent, serving as the lifeblood of South African football. The many success stories of Diski Challenge alumni, who have gone on to make significant contributions, are a powerful testament to the competition’s lasting impact and importance within our football ecosystem.” said the Iron Duke.
“The DStv Diski Challenge is more than just a football tournament; it’s a testament to MultiChoice’s dedication to sport development and its belief in the power of sport to enrich lives.
We’ve seen the tangible difference the DStv Diski Challenge has made in the many graduates who have created sustainable careers after the head start the league gave them; some even going on to represent South Africa internationally,” says Rendani Ramovha, CEO of SuperSport.
Since its establishment in 2014, MultiChoice has put in excess of R450 million into the DStv Diski Challenge, resulting in the promotion of over 340 young players from the competition to PSL first teams. The Diski Challenge has emerged as the foundational pillar of South African football development and a platform for aspiring broadcasters to kick-start their careers at SuperSport.
